Discipling to Conversion

November 30, 2013 in Disciples (F3) by Ben Taylor

At the Newforms Gathering – Steve Addison shared about how making disciples is a process.

Here are some basic tools and principles that have been fruitful in helping people and communities become disciples who make disciples:

Getting Started

A great tool to start with is the 7 Signs of John where people discover Jesus in the scriptures and ask each other questions

Basic Teachings

Once people have moved nearer to Jesus then there are some basic teachings which are listed in Hebrews 6:1-4:

– Repentance and Faith

– Baptism

– Laying on of hands

– Resurrection

– Eternal Judgement

These truths are “planted” into the community through reading stories about these basic truths. For example we’d read a story about The Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8) and then ask 4 basic questions, “What does it say?”, “What does it mean?”, “What do I need to do about this?”, “Who can I share this with?”

We simply read a story in the Bible which shares truth about these basic teachings and then help people to be obedient to Jesus
